Breed Information

Picture
If any breed of dog is most deserving of the title "Noble with Natural Beauty", then that dog is the German Shepherd.

He is a dog with elegant yet flowing lines, glamorous to behold, with a shining coat, erect ears, and an intelligent expression that will command attention wherever he is seen. His eyes indicate the love and affection he has for those who care for him and his sweeping tail will show his mood whether it be gay or sad.

By nature a German Shepherd is wary of strangers, though once one is accepted by him, he is a friend for life. He is an efficient, obedient worker; quick to learn, and what is learned will never be forgotten. It is an active breed and thrives on work—little is beyond it's capabilities. Fleet of foot, powerful, yet graceful and nimble, he is the epitome of those qualities considered to be ideal within a dog.

He loves human companionship and will respond to his owner’s mood, whether this be lying quietly by his side or romping across the fields; indeed, at all times, his one desire is to be with you and to please you.
He has a keen sense of humor and enjoys playful games yet, in defense of those he loves, can become a frightening adversary that one would be well advised to keep clear of. He can fit into a flat or a mansion as the need may be, for he is happy wherever you are happy.

The German Shepherd Dog is respected and admired throughout the world for its versatility, intelligence, and loyalty. It has existed as a recognized breed for a relatively brief period of time compared to other dog breeds. The early
shepherd dogs of Germany were of several types suited to their environments.
Coat length and texture, color, and build all varied but these types all
possessed ruggedness, intelligence, soundness, and the ability to do specialized work.

ABOUT THE DDR - EAST GERMAN LINES

Picture
DDR dogs have a strong, solid, lean, muscular body, heavy bone construction and a large massive head. They have dark pigmentation and are not as angulated as West German show dogs. These dogs have a strong temperament, great working capacity and are well suited for Schutzhund, police work, search and rescue and many other tasks.

**Most importantly, DDR German Shepherds have a very low rate and severity of hip dysplasia.

These dogs developed a little differently than German Shepherds from other locations. They have heavier bone structure, a long body type, uniform shoulders and an even top line "STRAIGHT BACKED". They come in a number of colors, being black and tan, black and red, sable, bi color and black the most common

                                                  Story at-a-glance

A
new study of German Shepherd Dogs adds to a growing body of research on the damaging effects of spaying and neutering on dogs
  • Earlier studies on other breeds, including Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, and Vizslas, suggest that desexing can dramatically increase the risk for serious diseases and behavioral disorders in these dogs
  • When dealing with 100 percent responsible pet owners, my preference is to leave dogs intact whenever possible to avoid unnecessary risks of anesthesia. When pets must undergo a sterilization procedure, I advocate an alternative procedure to a full spay or neuter that spares the gonads and ovaries, which produce hormones essential to good health
  • Ovary sparing spays are equally as effective as traditional spays at preventing unwanted litters, but they are less invasive and eliminate the risk of endocrine damage
  • Veterinary schools need to teach less damaging sterilization methods to students, as research shows our current surgical approach to controlling unwanted pregnancies can permanently affect dogs in negative ways. In addition, the surgical technique used by high volume spay clinics and shelters to sterilize very young dogs could easily be updated to a less damaging technique, while still accomplishing the goal of preventing unwanted litters

What Our Clients Are Saying

Moses was exceptional in his desire to place the right puppy with the right family. The dogs he produces are beyond excellent. In a week ours is pretty much potty trained. Our Samuel has adopted us to be his new family. He is growing so fast we know he is going to be our protector and awesome companion. Moses is probably the most invested breeder we found. He loves all of his dogs. In fact they are more his children than dogs. Wonderful experience.
